The Canadian Association of Optometrists (CAO) has received plenty of positive feedback on the Don’t Lose Sight campaign, including requests for more information. What are people asking about? We regularly have questions for more information on monitoring, early detection, and treatment of serious eye diseases like diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration (AMD), and glaucoma.
Based on your feedback, the CAO developed new information pieces that demonstrate the benefits of providing plan members with access to modern diagnostics and imaging:
- Vision Care Benefits: The Case for Modern Coverage – This handbook contains valuable information relating to vision care, modern diagnostics, and the impact of eye disease.
- Treatment Pathways – The treatment pathways outline follow-up schedules and recommended tests based on clinical guidelines for serious eye diseases including diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration (AMD), and glaucoma.
- The Workplace Cost of Eye Disease - Includes the cost of prevention, early detection, and intervention for diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration (AMD), and glaucoma.
- Vision Care in Canada: Public Coverage Grid - Summarizes public provincial coverage and highlights the gaps in care for working-age Canadians, who rely almost exclusively on their workplace group insurance plans for vision care.
The CAO is pleased to work with your team to discuss vision care modernization for your clients and assist with any internal and external communication needs, including informational webinars.
